From chain 1-17 the transect passed through an open bog community with Viburnum nudum var cassinoides / Rubus hispidus - Vaccinium oxycoccos / Sphagnum spp.. From chains 17-51 Picea rubens - Betula alleghaniensis/ Rhododendron maximum / Osmunda cinnamomea Forest. From chains 51-67 was a swampy Alnus incana ssp rugosa Shrubland. Transect ended at chain 67 ran into Cranberry River.;The plot was located in a marshy area with a small stream running through it. The dominant trees are Betula alleghaniensis and Betual lenta. The shrub layer was mostly Rhododendron maximum. High forb diversity in plot.
Representativeness
The USFS plots were placed at random points along a compass bearing. Transects were broken into 20 meter chains. This transect is 67 chains long. The plot occurred in a swampy forested community.
